Mrs. Laura EdwardsSophomore PLAN Test: All sophomores will take part in ACT’s PLAN program on Wednesday, November 19.  PLAN includes an academic test, a survey of interests, and an assessment of study skills knowledge.  PLAN also provides an estimated ACT Assessment score so you can see if you’re on track for the college or career of your choice.  If you are undecided, PLAN can put some focus into your future.  Because all sophomores take PLAN, there is no fee assessed.

College and Career Days

Juniors and seniors may take a college/career day.  Please get the forms from the guidance office.  COLLEGE DAY- You need to make appointments to talk with people in the departments of your interest and to a coach, if you plan on playing sports.  Also, ask for a tour of the campus and visit a class, if possible.  Some colleges have pre-planned visit weekends.  CAREER DAY- You may visit an occupation that interests you.  Make an appointment ahead of time to “shadow” a person who can show you what the career is like.  Juniors have one college/career day.  Seniors have one college/career day each semester.  All visits must be completed before May 1st and are subject to approval by administration.

Juniors ASVAB Testing

All juniors will be taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery).  This multi-aptitude battery of tests consists of eight short individual tests.  The ASVAB results provide a snapshot of a student’s current knowledge and skills.  Students will be able to compare their scores with the educational or job requirements for occupations of interest to them. All juniors will be taking the test on Thursday, November 6.  There is an information booklet that will be distributed the week before the testing to the students.

As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Laura Edwards
