Clarification of COVID-19 Guidelines
For Second Semester
While the Illinois Department of Public Health has adopted the recently changed CDC guidance for the general public, both the IDPH and ISBE have announced that schools should continue to follow the current IDPH COVID-19 School Guidelines.
This means that Leland School will continue with the same timelines for remote learning for positive cases, close contacts, and for exhibiting symptoms.
There are some important changes for this semester:
- When testing is required to return, results must be from a PCR test.
We will no longer accept rapid result antigen tests for return to in-person.
The school will use PCR testing for our Test-to-Stay protocol, and will verify school-based BinaxNOW test results with a Shield PCR test.
- To be considered fully vaccinated
o Vaccine must be within the last 6 months (Pfizer, Moderna) or 2 months (J&J)
o OR have received a booster
Please submit proof of the booster dose by emailing a screenshot of the vaccination card to Hannah West email@example.com
- Those who have not yet received a booster and are determined to be a ‘close contact’
o Remote attendance for 5 days, with strict masking for additional 5 days
(Pending negative PCR test for return after 5 days)
o For exposure that occurs in school, only when masking has been consistent,
Test-to-Stay protocol is, of course, still an option
Thanks for your continued patience and commitment.
