Notice of Availability and Destruction of Special Education Temporary Records
As of 7/9/26, Leland School has temporary Special Education records of former students. These records are now available to parents/guardians or to former students who are 18 years of age or older.
Special Education temporary records may be valuable for Social Security purposes or other benefits. These records can include psychological evaluations, disciplinary information, staff reports, family background information, intelligence and aptitude test scores, teacher evaluations, and other information relevant to the student. Please note, these records do not include academic transcripts, attendance records, or other information contained in the student’s permanent record.
In accordance with the Illinois School Student Records Act, schools are required to maintain student temporary records for at least five years. After this time, records may be destroyed.
Parents/guardians or students 18 years of age or older who wish to obtain these records and or object to their destruction, please contact Mallory Bland at mbland@leland1.org, 815-495-3231 ex 110 to arrange an appointment. If the student is 18 or older, the student’s own signature is required before the records can be released.
For additional information regarding Special Education records, please contact the Admissions Office. Any unclaimed Special Education temporary records will be destroyed 60 days from the date of this notice, after proper notification to parents/guardians.
