To Our Community Business Leaders & Supporters,

We’re excited to invite you to be part of our Veterans Day SWEAT FOR A VET - Push-Up Challenge, taking place during Leland’s Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 11th, at 9 am.

This special event is a fun and meaningful way for our students — and our community — to honor and support our veterans. Each participating business or individual sponsor will be paired with one student, who will complete as many push-ups as they can during the challenge. We’re asking local businesses or individual sponsors to donate $1 for every push-up their student completes. All proceeds will go toward supporting the LaSalle County Veterans Home.

State Senator Li Arellano Jr hosted his Fall Youth Advisory Council Monday at Sauk Valley Community College, bringing together more than 40 high school students from across the 37th District. Leland High School was represented by Seniors Laynie Wold and Kiley Mason, and Juniors Emma Elder and Rachel Dean. These students participated in creating potential legislation for the state of Illinois. These students will travel to Springfield in the spring to participate in a mock Senate hearing on the legislation that they created and voted on.

Congratulations to senior Jesus for winning the candy jar guessing game! He had the closest guess with 373, just two away from the actual amount of 371. Jesus won the jar of candy along with two tickets to the circus this Sunday.

A huge thank you to Jan Half, a former Leland teacher, for generously sponsoring the NIU STEAM Camp for our students this year. Thanks to her support, students from various grade levels had the opportunity to attend a range of camps — from sports and exploration to robotics. We’re incredibly grateful to Jan for making this hands-on, enriching experience possible!

Mark Your Calendars! Leland School is excited to invite you to our annual Community Awards Night—a special evening that celebrates the partnership between our school and the greater Leland community. This year's event will take place on Thursday, May 15th at Leland School. We would love for your family to join us! The evening will begin at 5:30 PM with a potluck dinner in the high school gym, followed by the awards ceremony at approximately 6:00 PM. Leland School will provide fried chicken; we simply ask that each family brings a dish to share. The dinner is open to the entire community. Additional details and the evening’s agenda will be shared once finalized. We hope you'll mark your calendar and plan to attend this meaningful event. Community Awards Night is a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience what it means to be part of a supportive, active community. Let’s come together to celebrate the achievements of the past year and all that makes Leland such a special place. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 815-495-3231 or cbickel@leland1.org.
